3 great deals to grab now
By Beth Braverman

(Money Magazine) -- These deals on travel, household appliances and even golf club memberships can help you save money now.
1. Fly at a deep discount
The deal: Special airline promotion codes can knock as much as 50% off your plane fare.
How to nab it: The codes are offered directly by individual airlines, including American, JetBlue, and United. To find them, says Ed Perkins of SmarterTravel.com, "sign up for any kind of communication your airline is running" -- e-mail newsletter, frequent-flier program, or Twitter feed. You can also register for e-mail alerts about codes for your desired route at airfarewatchdog.com. Be ready to make a quick purchase: Most promos last only a few days.
Sample savings: United Airlines recently tweeted a promotion code offering up to half off the price of flights to Mexico City from three dozen U.S. cities.
2. Get cash for appliance clunkers
The deal: Earn rebates of $50 to $1,000 for dumping your old fridge, washing machine, or other major appliance and replacing it with an energy-efficient one.
How to nab it: Go to energysavers.gov for the start date in your area for these state-run programs, which products qualify, and the amount of the rebate (you get a flat rate per item, regardless of its age or original price). You may need to show receipts proving you recycled the old appliance and purchased a new one with the Energy Star label.
Sample savings: California residents get $100 for old washers and $75 for fridges.
3. Tee off for less
The deal: With membership shrinking, many golf clubs are trying to lure new members or retain current ones by reducing dues or initiation fees, and waiving extra charges to use the pool and other amenities.
How to nab it: Call the club you'd like to join and ask if discounts are available, since many deals aren't advertised.
