Today's Daily Bread: "I Asked God to Help Me Endure"-Shyne

Years ago, I watched an MTV interview with the rapper and hip-hop artist Shyne who was then serving a ten years sentence for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He claimed his innocence and expressed his feelings of being sentenced unfairly. In that interview, he said a quote that has always stuck with me- "I've don't God to take things away, I've always asked him to help me to endure." That statement plays in my mind over and over whenever I feel overwhelmed, seeking an alternate journey.

So often, we'd like to instruct God on how guide us and what to take us through, but we must also remember that God is wise enough to guide us without any one's help. We are privileged enough to be chosen. It's not easy to endure tests of faith, but they must be passed to fulfill what's in store for us.

It's easy to throw in the towel and give up, but instead of asking God to give us a quick way out and a quick relief; ask him to help you to endure it. He wouldn't choose us if he didn't believe that we had the power, strength, and capability to be over comers. Climb that mountain!

Pray for endurance, not an escape route.

Have a great weekend!
